On October 29, 2018, New York Times published an article titled “#MeToo Brought Down 201 Powerful Men”. The year after Harvey Weinstein’s exposure of sexual crimes saw the change in leadership position in fields from entertainment to business, from politics to academia. But how are people reacting to these changes? How does public perception of these personalities change? How does the internet play a role in this movement? Previous research has explored the expression of opinions on Twitter and Reddit, which are platforms that reflect the more instant and spontaneous reactions of the online community. Max Schaffer (2019) (they/them/their) Harvard University Hxstory and Gender Studies Abstract: This project aims to exemplify methods for public porn research while generating analysis on the state of modern "adult" media and the evolving existences of trans performers. It tackles questions of data-oversight, algorithmic bias, digital consent, and gender identity in the rapidly changing pornographic world--and hopes to offer possible actions towards a more equitable streaming-future. These issues exist not simply as problems of the "NSFW" sphere, but as significant pieces of much larger concerns around surveillance, privacy, and economic exploitation. Social Mobility in New Bedford's Whaling Industry Between 1809 to 1927

Although whaling history and research is oftentimes limited by the survival of maritime documents, information about New Bedford's whaling industry has survived in the form of archived crew manifests and voyage logs, as evidenced by my datasets. This collective information can be explored to learn more about the crew members who embarked on these voyages in search of greater fortune.
