The Catalyst Effect of High Profile Dismissals

Similar to previous feminist movements and #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo is constituted of broader discussions triggered by high profile events that quickly attracted people's attention. By analyzing data from Wikipedia and understanding the behavior of individual Wikipedia editors, I found that the dismissal of high profile men not only changed people's perception about them, but also attracted the attention of people who otherwise would not have been exposed to them.
