Datasets

This section serves as an introduction to my datasets.  My two raw datasets are as follows:

• An Excel file containing extensive information on over 130,00 records of crew lists for whaling voyages recorded in the customs houses in New Bedford, Fall River, and Salem, Massachusetts, and in New London, Connecticut between the years 1799 to 1927. A description can be found here.
• An Excel file containing details about all known American offshore whaling voyages, with voyage identification provided. Records prior to the 1800's are less extensive and less detailed. A description can be found here. 

In the pages of this section, I introduce these datasets in detail and provide descriptions of how I repurposed these raw datasets into their final forms, as well as how I have linked these datasets.
